How old do I need to be to join BSN? You must be at least 18 to join BSN

How much does it cost to join BSN?  Membership to BSN is free. In the future, we will introduce additional levels of membership with enhanced benefits soon, but for now, everyone who subscribes to our list is considered a BSN member.

Who Should Join BSN? You should consider joining BSN if you have a goal, desire or interest to one day leverage speaking as means of creating income for yourself or if you are already professional or entrepreneur that leverages speaking as a strategy to grow your business or career. 

Do I have to be Black, African American or of African Descent to join? No. While BSN 's charter is dedicated to increasing the representation of successful Black Professional Speakers anyone of any race, ethnicity or nationality is welcome to join. BSN does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. These activities include, but are not limited to, hiring and firing of staff, selection of volunteers and vendors, and provision of services.

How many members do you have? Currently we have over 700 members across 12 countries internationally.

Is BSN a non-profit organization? No. BSN is a for profit privately held entity.

Is BSN a speaker's bureau ? - No. BSN is a consulting agency designed to be a resource for our speakers in our network. We provide information, support services, products, empowerment, and development opportunities that allow speakers to make the transition from novice to professional speaker. A traditional speakers bureau engages in the services of promoting and booking speakers, and while BSN does have a mechanism for capturing and sharing speaking engagements (Speaker Opportunity Alerts) it is not the primary mission of our organization.

Who can join BSN? - BSN Membership is open to all aspiring speakers. Although our mission is focused on the development new and rising black speakers, membership is open and welcome to all. Membership will never be denied on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender age, sexual orientation, religion, political affiliation or any other discriminatory basis.

How does BSN Make Money? BSN earns income through structured joint venture projects, information products, live events, affiliate marketing, speaking engagements as and consulting fees.

Who founded BSN? BSN was founded in 2016 in Baltimore, Maryland by our Principal Consultant Brian Olds. You can read more about Brian here.

Can I join if I live outside of the U.S.? - Yes, membership is currently open to all countries however, please note that we can only offer services for English speakers at this time.

I am already a Professional Speaker should I still join? If you are currently a full time professional speaker at this level you may still join BSN however since our services, products and programs are designed for new and rising speakers so you may not find as much value in all aspects of membership.

How much money can I make as a speaker? BSN does not guarantee any income claims as a professional speaker. As with any opportunity results will vary based on your industry, experience, effort and many other factors. Our goal is to equip each speaker with the knowledge and tools to develop multiple streams of income.

Why was BSN created?  BSN was created with the following long-term strategic objectives in mind.

  1. To increase the diversity of the professional speaking industry by identifying and cultivating a sustainable network of profitable Black Professional Speakers

  2. Build confidence while celebrating the small and large success of our members

  3. Positively impact the cultural perception of Blacks in the U.S. and around the world and serve as role models for youth

  4. Serve as a catalyst to support and grow black owned businesses that provide critical products and services for our members
